In L.J. Shen’s new series, we have a crossover of new generation of characters. The Hunter is sexy, angsty and hell entertaining. The book has the right amount of drama (not to the point it gets overwhelming) and romance.

Hunter Fitzpatrick is a son of a oil tycoon and soon will inherit his father’s company with his older brother Cillian. When a sex scandal circulated that involves him, it affected his family’s reputation and his father forced him to a six month deal as a punishment. No sex, no drinks, no monkey business. The person who has to keep him in check is Sailor Brennan, the mob boss’s daughter.

Hunter is your typical womanizer. He’s charismatic, dirty talker and definitely naughty. Behind the cockiness lies a person who is longing for affection. I pity him he felt that way from his family. As for Sailor, I didn’t recognize her until her last name rings the bell (Troy and Sparrow’s daughter — their from L.J. Shen’s book — Sparrow). She’s independent, simple and timid. As much as possible, she wants to be independent from her family though they’re nothing but supportive. People see her as a Plain Jane and there are times she felt insecure. However, people failed to see her inner beauty. She has a pure heart and fiery soul. I love when she breaks out of her shell and becomes more confident.

There’s so much sexual tension between Sailor and Hunter. I love the push and pull and I’m just here drinking coffee waiting to see where it goes. Hunter knew Sailor isn’t the type of girl who is into hookups. She’s a serious type and he has to earn his way to her heart. I am proud of Sailor for giving him a hard time before she falls for him. With his reputation, it terrifies her but Hunter proven he’s a changed and more mature guy.

I’m excited for more books in this series. I am lowkey curious on Cillian. That grumpy dude. And also Sam (omfg I’m rooting for him and Aisling!!!)
