Summary (Goodreads):

Hartwell, Delaware—the perfect place to get away from it all, and find what you never knew you needed…

Bailey Hartwell has many reasons to feel content—her successful business, a close circle of friends, and her steady boyfriend…even if their romance feels staid after ten years without a serious commitment. The only challenge in her life comes in the form of sexy businessman Vaughn Tremaine. She thinks the ex-New Yorker acts superior and that he considers her a small-town nobody. But when Bailey’s blindsided by a betrayal, she’s shocked to discover Vaughn is actually a decent guy.

Vaughn admires Bailey’s free spirit, independence, and loyalty. As his passion for her has grown, his antagonism toward her has only worsened. Every little thing Bailey does seduces him. But when Vaughn’s painful emotional past makes him walk away in fear he will hurt her, it opens an old wound in Bailey, and she uncharacteristically retreats.

Once Vaughn begins to realize he’s made the biggest mistake of his life, he has no choice but to fight like he’s never fought before to convince Bailey that the love they’ve found together only comes around once in a lifetime.

My Review:

Review also posted on Goodreads

We’re down on the last Crane Brother, Elijah Crane. He’s a former Marine who’s rough on the edges. While serving his country, an incident change his life when a grenade blasted ending up him losing his leg and lives of his fellow mates. What he’d been through was difficult, grieving for loss, suffering a mild PTSD and coping with disability. It affected him emotionally making him brooding, sad and irritable. Since he’s discharged, his brothers encouraged him to participate in their family business and they hired assistants to help him. Unfortunately, all of them drove away by his rudeness… except for one lady.

For all the well trained and efficient assistants she sent were fired, the owner of the Sable Concierge, Isabella Sawyer decided to be Elijah’s personal assistant so as not to lose her long time wealthy client. Given with her experience, she thinks she can handle the bastard billionaire. He can fire her multiple times but she’s too driven to quit easily.

When pot meets kettle, things can get more interesting. I have a soft spot for brooding heroes. They’re mysterious, flawed and closed off but they can surprise you with their true persona. Elijah is a sweet, edgy and romantic man. Despite of his flaws and vulnerability, he truthfully expressed his feelings. I love his character growth throughout this book as he dealt with his personal issues. Among the female protagonists in this series, Isabella Sawyer is my favorite. She’s fierce, independent, passionate and enthusiastic. I love she exhibits patience and understanding towards Eli. They may have arguments every now and then but it’s amusing to see Eli met his match. The chemistry between them develops with intensity and their intimate moments blazed with hotness.

This book is wonderfully written, emotionally stirring and worth devouring. I enjoyed Elijah and Isabella’s story very much.

TOP 5 FAVORITE LINES FROM TBB

#5~ Isabella Sawyer’s smart-aleck remark when Eli fires her for the umpteenth time:

“Apologies, Eli, but I’m not changing my shoes.” She came into his office, her hips swaying with each sure step she took toward him.

“Fine. Then you’re fired.”

“Oh, no, not again.”

#4~ Merina, the heroine from The Bastard Billionaire shows up as yet another feisty woman who refuses to bow to Eli’s gruffness.

“I can go out into public, you know,” he grumbled, setting the beer bottle next to his plate—on the table, no coaster, thank you very much. “You guys don’t have to come in here and serve me.”

He was skilled at his new role of miserable bastard, and since everyone expected it now, he was determined to excel.

“Oh but we do, Lord Crane.” Merina smiled demurely as she leaned over and handed him a glass.

#3~ I loved this line after Eli and Isa had sex—his honesty cracked me up!

“I like this.” She touched the corner of his mouth. “I’ve been trying to get you to smile since I started working here.”

“Well now you know how to do it.”

#2~ Bold Isabella knows how to ask for what she wants!

“Is kissing you in my marching orders for tomorrow night?” he asked, his eyes picking up a trace of heat.

She wasn’t going to pass up this opportunity. No way. No how.

“Yes,” she answered. “Need to practice?”

#1~ Eli’s worry that he didn’t have what it took is my favorite line in the book.

He’d done what he needed to be a good soldier.

Now that he wasn’t a soldier, he wasn’t sure what it took to be a good man.

His name is Beat, and I should hate him.

Bound, blindfolded and bruised, I’m tied in his basement, waiting for the men who stripped me from clothes and humanity to collect his debt to them. Me.

His name is Nate and I should hate him, but I don’t.

I’m not supposed to know his real name, even worse, I’m not supposed to care. He is nothing to me but means to an end. The plan is simple: break free, collect the pieces of my broken soul, kill the bastards and run away.

His name is Nathaniel Thomas Vela, and I’ve never seen his face, though I hear that it’s beautiful.

Behind the rugged and handsome exterior, there’s a quiet murderer, a killer who thinks guns are for pussies and ends people with his bare hands.

His name doesn’t matter, neither does his face, but what does matter is my heart. And right now, sadly, it’s his.

Blood to Dust is a standalone, full-length novel. It contains graphic violence and adult situations some may find offensive.

He’s won the hearts of millions. But is he willing to lose his?

I met the president’s son when we were both young. Matthew Hamilton was handsome, polished, and intelligent. I’d never met a guy like him.

He promised me that he’d never run for president. I promised that if he did, I’d be by his side.

Three terms later, an invitation to join Matthew Hamilton’s campaign is the most exhilarating opportunity I’ve ever experienced. I’m determined to make a difference; he is determined to win.

Focused on his goal, Matt is steadfast, ruthless, and disarming. All eyes are on him and his popularity is surging. But soon, the next possible president of the United States is possessing me more ways than one—and despite the risks, I’m helpless to resist.

We’re stealing touches, stealing moments, and stealing away at night. But our chemical connection is quickly becoming dangerously combustive, putting not only my heart, but Matt’s chance at the presidency on the line.

Winning will take everything. Walking away will be the hardest thing of all.

I received an ARC from the author Katy Evans in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Ms. Katy Evans!

I buddy read this with my dear sis Pearl –> click her name to read her amazing review.

“She grounds me. She obsesses me. She fuels me. This woman not only makes me want to be a great man, she makes me want to be the best goddamn president that ever lived.”

Mr. President is the first book in Katy Evans’ new series (White House series) and it’s about Charlotte Wells, daughter of the former senator and Matthew Hamilton, son of the former president. Charlotte was 11 years old when they met on dinner hosted by her family. She looked up to Matt with such admiration and developed a crush on him. It’s genuinely adorable and if one day he’ll run as a President, she would love to join his campaign and assured he has her vote. When Matthew’s father was assassinated during his term, he and his mom lay low as they mourn on the President’s death.

11 years later..

Matt announced his presidential candidacy. He was motivated to continue his father’s legacy and dedicate himself to work without any distractions. When he and Charlotte met again, he invited her to join his campaign. They’re both delighted to see each other and excited what lies ahead. These two came from political families and they are aware that people may judge them publicly. It’s important they maintain a good image and avoid issues that other political parties can use against them. The romance between them sparked which lead to their secret affair. However, there are moments you need to walk away and prioritized what is needed for the nation.. Is there any hope for their relationship? Or it will just be a secret affair that can crush their hearts?

“That night is not the first time in the past eleven years I dream about Matt Hamilton again, but it’s the first one where the guy in the dream looks exactly like he did tonight.”

I LOVE IT. The writing style is so good and I love how Katy Evans balanced the romance and the political aspects.Matt’s platform is great and with substance as he addressed the issues and he wants change for the better of his country. Such dedication and love made his opponents’ platforms paled in comparison. The characters are lovely and adorable. Charlotte is a lady with class. She’s simple, kind, independent, bright, selfless and loyal. While Matthew, he’s charismatic, gentle, sexy, sweet, observant and passionate. With their personalities, it’s no wonder that they fall for each other.

The chemistry between them burned with sizzling passion. It’s intense and HOT as a Jalapeño! The steamy scenes are off-the-damn-scale HOT. I love their relationship development. It’s genuine and it flowed naturally. Adding the childhood crush Charlotte has for him and the secret affair, their attraction develops into something more. It truly made me swoon and gave me butterflies.

When I finished this book, my damn emotions makes me want to read the sequel so bad. SO. FREAKING. BAD. Can we fast forward to 2017? Overall, I really enjoyed this book and I look forward to read the sequel. I recommend it if you’re into romance novels. Katy Evans’ male leads are swoon-worthy and MATTHEW HAMILTON IS THE NEW BAE.

Top 5 funny lines from The Billionaire Next Door by Jessica Lemmon

#5: On accusing his dad of being a terrible retiree because he won’t leave Tag alone about work…

“Stop being ridiculous. Go drink your Metamucil or something.” Rhona’s giggle punctuated the air and Tag added, “And take your Cialis.”

#4: This one is cheating a little because Lucas, Tag’s best friend says it, but it earned my number four spot because, well… I love Lucas!

“I figured you and Reese split Chicago singles right down the middle, but with him engaged”—Luc dipped his voice to add the word again—“that puts you in charge of sexually pleasing the remainder of Chicago’s females.”

Tag couldn’t help laughing. “You’re an ass.”

“With great power comes great responsibility, my friend.”

#3: Tag’s response when Rachel accuses him of not acting like a billionaire…

“You don’t act like a billionaire.” She arranged herself and rested against his solid chest.

“I take it you weren’t impressed with the whisking-you-away-to-Oahu-by-private-plane bit? Because I have to tell you, that’s my go-to move.”

#2: That one time Rachel accuses Tag of thinking she was a hooker…

His chuckle turned into a belly laugh and he had to put a hand on his stomach to catch his breath. “No, sweetheart, I thought you meant you were one of his regular girls. Girlfriends. Not that you curled his toes for money.”

 #1: Rachel’s reaction upon learning Tag’s name…

“Tag,” he answered, letting go of her hand.

“Tag? As in you’re it?”

Tag as in Taggart, but he’d die before she found out he was named after his great-great-grandfather Crane. “Yeah. As in you’re it.”
