Synopsis:

They took too much.
Left too little.
I had nothing to lose…until him.

*****************

~Lana~

I didn’t expect him.
I didn’t want to fall in love.
But I can’t let him go.

Logan Bennett makes the world a safer place.
He’s brilliant.
He’s a hero.
He locks away the sick and depraved.
But while he’s saving lives, I’m taking them. Collecting the debts that are owed to me.

Ten years ago, they took from me. They left me for dead.
They should have made sure I stayed dead.

Now I’m taking from them.
One name at a time.

I’ve trained for too long.
I’ve been patient.
I can’t stop now.

Revenge is best served cold…

They never see me coming, until I paint their walls red.

Logan doesn’t know how they hurt me. He doesn’t know about the screams they ignored. He doesn’t know how twisted that town really is.

He just knows people are dying.
He doesn’t know he’s in love with their killer.

No one suspects a dead girl.
And Logan doesn’t suspect the girl in his bed.

They’re looking for a monster.
Not a girl who loves red.
Not a girl in love.

I’m a faceless nightmare.

At least until I tell them the story they’ve pretended never happened.

But in the end, will Logan choose them? Or will we watch them burn together?

Trigger Warnings:

This series is EXTREMELY VIOLENT. There’s rape, murder, child death, gore, gun violence, sexual harassment, sexual assault, torture and many more. Brace yourself. Enter at your own risk.

My overall review:

First, I’d like to applaud C.M. Owens (also known as S.T. Abby and Kristy Cunning) in heaven for writing this dark romance thriller series. She sadly passed away last month and I was devastated by her sudden death because she’s a gifted writer. In her Mindf*ck series, she pushed herself and wrote scenes that’s beyond my imagination. I was shocked, thrilled and SCREAMED on the plot twists. They are A+ and my heart raced!

Don’t get me started with the violence. The scenes here are the GORIEST I have ever read. The murders in mystery /thrillers can’t match them and they extremely pushed out of my comfort zone. Never eat anything while reading this book, just a friendly reminder.

Can you imagine a serial killer fell in love with a FBI Agent whose assigned on her case? Yes, our heroine is a serial killer and is included on the MOST BADASS HEROINE EVER. Let me introduce to you Lana Myers. A survivor and seeks revenge to those who faulted their family. She’s an an avenging angel and slayed them like hell. She’s everyone’s worst nightmare. While her ways are not morally accepted, this girl fought her wars. Our FBI Agent, Logan Bennett gave her the light in spite of her dark soul.

Logan and Lana have a fantastic chemistry. The supporting characters are amazing that they also need a spotlight. Undeniably, this is one of the most consistent dark romance/thriller series ever written. Usually dark romance series are overwhelming and dragging but I never felt that in this series. It was outstanding. I love it and my favorites in the series are All the Lies and Paint It All Red (Such a grand finale. BOOM).

  1. I read the first book and then right in the middle of me reading it my KU subscription cancelled and I haven’t gone back yet. I was living for all of Ari’s updates about the series. It sounds completely wild but based on the 1st book itself I’m with you on the writing. I’m glad this turned out to be a fave for you!

  2. You did a great job capturing the essence of this series in your review. It was SO. GOOD. I am so sad there won’t be another like it or anything about more of the characters. So sad. 😦 I have now read a couple CM Owens books and I need to try more of them because you’re right, she is a talented author. Great review!
