Mid-Year Book Freak Out Tag (2020)

2020 is one hell of a year and definitely life changing because of the pandemic and we have to adapt into the “new normal”. It’s also a good escape for most of us and spent time reading. Checking in for my reading goals: I’ve read 58 of 100 books this year and I’m right on track! Today, I’ll share with you my reading updates — best and worst books etc. this year.

Best Book(s) You’ve Read so Far in 2020

I’m selecting two books because I’m indecisive. My heart goes to these two books. Hotshot Doc by R.S. Grey is swoon-worthy and I’m captivated with the protagonists. I love it! Neighbor Dearest by Penelope Ward is so frickin’ underrated. If you have read Stepbrother Dearest, this is Elec’s ex-girlfriend’s story and to be honest, I’m so delighted she got her happy ever after. The heroine deserves better than what happened to her. ❤

Best Sequel You’ve Read So Far in 2020

Bound by the past

Bound by the Past by Cora Reilly is worth the wait. I’m a huge fan of Dante and Valentina and I’m really ecstatic they’re getting another book. This book isn’t a lovey-dovey romance and focuses more on the mafia aspect, I just adore this couple going through ups and downs and look at them, so full of love and support for each other.

New Release You Haven’t Read But Want To

Emily Henry

I’m being a horrible book blogger because this is sitting on my kindle for such a long time. Please remind me to bump Beach Read by Emily Henry on my tbr. I heard a lot of positive reviews on this book and I am confident I’ll love this.

Most Anticipated Release for the Second Half of the Year

Biggest Disappointment of 2020

YDEO

To my disappointment, You Deserve Each Other by Sarah Hogle didn’t meet my expectations. Pitched as an enemies to lovers, the characters are immature and whiny.

Biggest Surprise

breakyourglass

I can’t believe I liked a book by Amanda Lovelace. Most of her poetry books are miss for me. Unexpectedly I like this one. 😛

Favorite New To Me Author(s)

I’m so glad I’ve read Tillie Cole, Katee Robert, Nic Stone and Lylah James’ books this year. Better late than never ❤

New Favorite Character

Hotshot

Bailey Jennings is my new favorite character. She’s a passionate, caring, independent and responsible woman. I stan a fellow nurse! I’m inspired to keep going despite of my hardships.

Book That Made You Cry

mitch

No surprise here. Mitch Albom has written a lot of inspiring and tear-jerking novels and the sequel for The Five People You Meet in Heaven is wonderful. ❤

Book That Made You Happy

Dirty Charmer FOR WEB

EXCUSE ME?! I HAVE WAITED FOR THIS BOOK FOR YEARS AND KLFHASHFDLAHF LOOK AT MY BOY TOMMY! Hahaha! I love this book ok? Dirty Charmer by Emma Chase is another book worth a while.

Most Beautiful Book You’ve Bought So Far This Year

gabriel's promise

My precious. My favorite couple. I’m just in love with Gabriel’s Promise by Sylvain Reynard and this is my treat for my birthday last January.

What Books Do You Need to Read By The End of Year

Your resident grandmother has a lot of pending books to finish but is too tired to read. hahaha! Hopefully I’ll finish these books. I still have six months.

That is all everyone! Leave your links if you’ve done this tag so I can check it out. Have you read any of these books? I’m excited to hear all your thoughts. If you haven’t done this tag, consider yourself tagged.
