Not all love stories are written the same way. Ours had torn chapters, missing paragraphs, and a bittersweet ending.

Luna Rexroth is everyone’s favorite wallflower.

Underneath the meek, tomboy exterior everyone loves (yet pities) is a girl who knows exactly what, and who, she wants—namely, the boy from the treehouse who taught her how to curse in sign language.
Who taught her how to laugh.
To live.
To love.
Knight Cole is everyone’s favorite football hero.

This daredevil hell-raiser could knock you up with his gaze alone, but he only has eyes for the girl across the street: Luna.

But Luna is not who she used to be. She doesn’t need his protection anymore.
When life throws a curveball at All Saints’ golden boy, he’s forced to realize not all knights are heroes.

Sometimes, the greatest love stories flourish in tragedy.

My Review:

The audacity of this book to break my heart and make me cry. I’m supposed to enjoy the angst and sexual tension between Luna and Knight yet I am partially wrecked the other part of the story (which I’ll mention later on the review)

Anyways, I enjoyed Broken Knight because Luna Rexroth and Knight Cole are unapologetically flawed individuals. They let their mistakes become a learning ground for maturity. There are moments Knight pissed me off for being rude to Luna and mostly he crossed the line when he’s intoxicated with drugs and alcohol. However, it’s his way of coping for being angry on his biological mother and dealing illness in his family. If you have read Ruckus, you know what Rose Leblanc’s condition. I can’t help sympathizing for him but his behavior isn’t an excuse of course. It’s a difficult time for him and he cannot afford to lose his best friend, Luna, whom he’s in love with since they’re young.

Luna is mute. She’s a sheltered girl who’s afraid of taking risks. I love the moment when she explores outside of her comfort zone and had a breakthrough. Seeing her fight back on bitches makes me want to stand up from my seat and cheer her on. That’s how I love my girl Luna. I’m so fucking proud of her. Don’t get me wrong, I’m proud of Knight too for getting his shit together. I just wished he groveled more.

So, let’s talk about the part that emotionally wrecked me and gave me a reality check. It’s predictable to be honest but I can’t stop weeping! I need to pause and let myself cry for minutes. That part left us a lesson to cherish every moment with your love ones while you can or else you might regret it’s too late.

Overall, it’s L.J. Shen’s most emotional book and I’m excited to read Angry God because Vaughn met his match and I’m evil laughing!
