From bestselling author L.J. Shen, comes a new standalone, enemies-to-lovers romance.
Heir to a media empire.
…And my new boss.
I could have impressed him, if not for last month’s unforgettable one-night stand.
I left it with more than orgasms and a pleasant memory–namely, his wallet.
Now he’s staring me down like I’m the dirt under his Italian loafers, and I’m supposed to take it.
But the thing about being Judith “Jude” Humphry is I have nothing to lose.
Heir to a stack of medical bills and a tattered couch.
When he looks at me from across the room, I see the glint in his eyes, and that makes us rivals.
He knows it.
So do I.
Every day in the newsroom is a battle.
Every night in his bed, war.
But it’s my heart at stake, and I fear I’ll be raising the white flag.
Smutathon Book 2 – Enemies to Lovers
I’m in the mood to read an enemies to lovers romance and many thanks to my friend, Mishie, for recommending this book to me. I’m sold when she mentioned the hero was as cocky as Dean “Ruckus” Cole and you know I love that dude.
Judith Humphry had a rough night when she caught her boyfriend cheating on her. Not only that, she’s financially struggling to pay her bills and medical expenses for her ill father. She met a guy at a bar whom she had a one night stand and stole his wallet. It wasn’t her intention but she’s in dying need of money to survive. Luckily, she landed a new job but she’s shook to the core when she sees the guy she slept with and apparently is her boss. She was embarrassed because she found out he’s engaged.
Celian Laurent. A wealthy producer/ news director, an asshole extraordinaire and an insanely hot guy. I don’t know why I love this man. The guy was an insensitive, coldhearted jerk. No one calls out his bullshit attitude other than Jude / Judith. Even if she stole his money, he’s drawn to her. How can you not love Jude? She’s driven, intelligent, empathic and compassionate. Don’t you worry guys, Celian’s character is redeemable. He’s somewhat broken and grew up with a dysfunctional family but that’s not a legit excuse. He had difficulties in expressing his feelings and Jude brings out the goodness in him.
Celian and Jude are super intense. They buttheads every now and then and the sexual tension, EXPLOSIVE as HECK.So frickin’ sexy and I am living for their chemistry. Both protagonists are dynamic and well developed. I love them! The best part of the story was its plot twist. I was engrossed and I didn’t pay attention what’s coming. I shouldn’t be surprised by it but it’s brilliant and it makes their romance fruitful.
Dirty Headlines is remarkable enemies to lovers romance. The story was gripping, angsty and full of sexual tension. AHHH! The drama is wonderful and not overwhelming. The characters survived the bumpy road. The ending felt a bit short but I still like this. It’s by far one of L.J. Shen’s best work yet along with Ruckus and Bane.
