Summary:
Everyone says opposites attract. And they must be right, because there’s no logical reason why I’m so drawn to Colin Fitzgerald. I don’t usually go for tattoo-covered, video-gaming, hockey-playing nerd-jocks who think I’m flighty and superficial. His narrow view of me is the first strike against him. It doesn’t help that he’s buddy-buddy with my brother.
And that his best friend has a crush on me.
And that I just moved in with them.
Oh, did I not mention we’re roommates?
I suppose it doesn’t matter. Fitzy has made it clear he’s not interested in me, even though the sparks between us are liable to burn our house down. I’m not the kind of girl who chases after a man, though, and I’m not about to start. I’ve got my hands full dealing with a new school, a sleazy professor, and an uncertain future. So if my sexy brooding roomie wises up and realizes what he’s missing?
He knows where to find me.

I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.
After a month of horrible reading slump, I finally finished this. Elle Kennedy’s sexy Briar hockey players returns in a new spin-off series! The Chase is the first novel in Briar Useries and it’s one of my most anticipated books this year because it’s Fitzy and Summer’s story.
Dean’s younger sister, Summer Heyward Di-Laurentis is a fashion designer in the making. Having a learning disability doesn’t stop her reaching her goals in life. She’s bubbly, energetic, carefree and transparent. Personality wise, she’s and extrovert and her name perfectly suits her. She can be hyper and people find it unbearable or should I say, way too much? There is more to her than meets the eye. After being expelled from Brown University, she transferred to Briar and needed a place to stay. With Dean’s help, he asked his former teammates and timely they are looking for a new roommate. Summer can’t contain her excitement as she’s going to be roommates with her longtime crush, Fitzy.
Apart from being a hockey player Colin Fitzgerald a.k.a Fitzy is an avid gamer and a talented artist. Unlike the other guys in his team, this sexy tattooed guy is an introvert and he would prefer spending time in his room than hang put or date random girls. He truly is my spirit animal. My introverted self can relate to him a lot. Summer is his polar opposite and he accidentally hurt her feelings in New Year’s Eve when she overheard his conversation with Garrett. Though she’s not his type, his feelings for her gradually develops. She’s attractive and personable. Definitely not the superficial girl he thought she was. The complicated thing is, his best pal Hunter Davenport pursues her.
The story is sort of a love triangle. I feel sorry for the other guy and you know who’s the endgame. The sexual tension between Summer and Fitzy is intense and it’s pretty much a SLOW BURN ROMANCE. OMG HALLELUJAH HOTNESS. I LOVE IT. No matter how much I want to scream in frustration at Fitzy to make a damn move on Summer ASAP, FITZY IS BAE. SEXY TATTOOED BAE. ❤️❤️❤️❤️ I love Summer too because she’s spontaneous, strong, bold and funny. I adore her friendship with Brenna. The bond between them is strong despite they’ve just met recently.
Overall, The Chase is solid beginning for this spin-off series and I’m more excited for the upcoming books. Brenna’s story is next. She has a strong personality and pretty much badass. I can’t wait to read The Risk in 2019! 🙂 If you love sports romance, Elle Kennedy’s books is a must try!
P.S.
It’s nice the characters from Off-Campus series had a cameo appearance. I really miss them so much! ❤️
Great review, Sis!

I enjoyed this one too, but oh my gosh, the triangle!! I felt like Summer led on the other guy, so I was a bit bummed. I did really enjoy the romance though. I can’t wait for Brenna’s book!
Glad you enjoyed it, Beatrice! 🙂

Thank you, Nick! I agree with you on Summer leading him on. I wish she just told him earlier. 🙂 Brenna’s book is going to be a blast! Who’s the guy you’re rooting for her? (I was hoping it’s Connelly)
