A brand new contemporary romance from New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today bestselling author Katy Evans.

It started as a game.
We flirted. We played. Most importantly—we won.
Then I discovered who he was: Gambler. Famous playboy. Silver-eyed player who never plays to lose.
…And my best friend’s soon-to-be brother in law, Cullen Carmichael.
He needed a good luck charm, I needed a distraction.
So we made a gamble and set off for Vegas—but pretty soon—I was in too deep.
My heart, soul, and body weren’t supposed to be part of the deal.
But somewhere between big wins and long nights, my house of cards started to tumble.
What was this devil with those piercing eyes doing to me?
I’d given up on love, but the wicked, all-in Cullen Carmichael was upping the ante and wouldn’t stop until he’d won it all.

*This book contains characters from the Manwhore series but can be read as a complete standalone.

Playboy is the fifth novel of Manwhore series about Cullen Carmichael, a professional poker player and Callan Carmichael’s older brother and Wynn Watson, whom you’re familiar with in the previous books as one of Rachel Livingston’s best friend.

As excited as I am for Cullen, I never thought Wynn is his love interest because last time, she and her chef boyfriend Emmett patched things up. It seems they had another fallout and this time it’s really over. Admittedly, I’m a bit saddened because I thought Emmett is a great guy but he’s not ready to take their relationship to next level whereas Wynn is ready to settle down. On the positive note, Wynn realizes her relationship with her ex-boyfriend was shallow. She deserves a lifetime partner who’ll cherish and love her.

Wynn was on a disastrous date when she met Cullen at an underground casino in Chicago. It all started with a bet and trying their best to fight their temptations. At first, I’m apprehensive with these two as a couple. I have doubts on Cullen given his reputation as a “Playboy”. Throughout the book, I’m praying Cullen won’t screw it up because Wynn was vulnerable and brokenhearted from her past. The attraction between them was extremely palpable and seductive. Holy sweetness, they have a fantastic chemistry and I’m slowly rooting for them.

Of all the ladies in the Manwhore series, I have fondness on Wynn. She’s compassionate, beautiful and caring. She’s a gentle soul and I never thought she’ll have more meaningful relationship than she had with Emmett. Cullen has similarities with the other guys. He got Saint’s dominance, Tahoe’s protectiveness and Callan’s irresistible charm. What makes him standout? He’s unpredictable. He’d proven to everyone that Wynn was the love of his life. That says a lot and truly earned respect by many.

Overall, Playboy is a sizzling hot installment. Timely it’s rainy season here in the Philippines, it’s the perfect book to get cozy with a hot drink. Wynn and Callan’s journey was about taking risk and believing in love. It was a dreamlike epilogue for these two. To end my review, here’s my favorite quote:

“I’ve fallen for my own playboy and while he sweeps me off my feet and makes me feel all these things that I never thought I’d feel, I’m all in and loving the idea of him. I love the idea of us.”
