Summary:
The highest stakes…
My father gambles every night, falling deeper and deeper into debt. When he hits the bottom, he places a new bet: his daughter. I’m his entry bet to the biggest underground poker game.
Every kind of danger circles the velvet-covered table, but only one man makes me tremble.
A trailer park princess.
The son of a criminal king.
We don’t belong together, but I’m caught in a twisted game.
His eyes meet mine with dark promise. And when he puts down his cards, I know I’m going to lose more than my body. I’m going to lose everything.

The King is the first novel in Endgame’s spin-off series, Masterpiece Duet. It’s about Penny and Damon Scott and majority of the events took place from The Castle. I like it but it didn’t lived up to my expectations. I’m kind of bummed with that because I love Penny and Damon more than Gabriel and Avery. The romance between them fell flat but it’s understable because Penny was still a minor and Damon doesn’t like to take advantage her vulnerability. You can tell Damon fancies her but he’s waiting for the right time.
I uplifted my rating because we get a history of their first encounter. Penny was a bright girl and she has a great future ahead. She’s so good in Mathematics, my least favorite subject. Haha. While Jonathan Scott is around no one is safe. I am careful with my words to avoid spoilers. Since I didn’t miss a lot (except from Damon and Penny’s past/first meet up), I could have skipped this and jump to next one.
I’m terrible at math! Definitely my least favorite too😌

I’ve had this one sitting on my Kindle but I never got a chance to read it. I loved her other the series, The Castle (I think that’s the name.)
