I have always been a bird. Caged by one prison or another when the only thing I ever wanted was to fly away.
Sold. Beaten. Starved. Drugged.
Nothing scares me anymore.
Until him.
He makes the numbness go away.
He is hazardous to me. It has nothing to do with his mafia lifestyle, and everything to do with what he offers.
A gilded prison.
A retreat from everything that I once knew. The reality I have no desire to return to.
He thinks he’s caged me, but soon…
I’m going to fly.

I live by a code. The Vory code.
In this mafiya world, there are traditions.
She does not care for these things. She does not care about anything.
She thinks she has me fooled with her haunted eyes.
What she can’t know is that I see her better than most.
She wants to fly.
But I’m going to clip her wings.
And make her my wife.

**This is a DARK mafia romance. A full-length standalone novel with HEA and no cheating.**

My Review:

“I know better than anyone that kindness always comes at a cost. Kindness is merely an illusion.”

Talia Parker was Mackenzie Wilder’s best friend who went missing. She’s kidnapped and violated to be become a sex slave by a guy whom she thought will give her happiness. Instead she copes with the pain each day. It damaged her soul and little by little spiralling into insanity. Then she’s rescued by a mysterious Russian mafia man.

Among the male leads in Boston Underwold series Alexei Nikolaev is the most genius. He’s Lachlan Crow’s Russian ally and a professional hacker. Many people underestimate his capabilities as a counselor in the Bratva/Russian mafia (Vory v Zakone) but Lachlan trusted him to track down and retrieve Mackenzie’s best friend as a favor. He promised to protect her and he secured it with marriage. He’ll never let anyone molest her again.

“The damaged half to my soul. We are both so damaged, but together, we fit perfectly.”

Ghost is as dark as the previous book. The difference is both protagonists shared the most twisted and messiest relationship. It’s toxic and unconventional. There’s no love in Alexei and Talia’s marriage. It’s sad but Talia is in good hands under his household. She’s suicidal and Alexei makes sure she’s being monitored and taken care of until recovery.

To shed some light in this book, as Albus Dumbledore says and I quote : “Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.” Alexei found his sun in Talia’s. She gives him life and felt her love for him. I really like Talia because she accepts Alexei for who he is.

Even the most genius man can be a stupid idiot sometimes and it made me a little mad. How come Alexei thought Talia betrayed him?! What the fuck dude? 😈🙄🔪 I never even considered her as a traitor. She’s incapable of doing that man. Anger made him so dumb. I cannot I’m glad he make-up for his mistakes of accusing her but he really did miss a lot.

Hence, I’m giving this 4 stars. Also, isn’t just me I want Nikolai and Tanaka have their own book? THESE TWO NEED A BOOK TOGETHER!!!
