An Irish mobster. A missing friend. Two loyalties, ripping me apart.

I had a plan.

Get in, get my information, and get out. Easy, right?

Turns out, infiltrating the Irish mafia isn’t exactly what I thought it would be. I just wanted a soldier. Someone I could flirt with to get me in the door.

That’s when Lachlan Crow noticed me. Problem was, he wasn’t a soldier. No, he was next in line for the throne of the Irish underworld. And he was determined to hate me from the outset. My sob story about needing a job? Yeah, he wasn’t buying that either.

Too bad for him, I won’t let anyone get in the way of my mission.

Who cares if we have some kind of crazy chemistry? He’s the worst kind of wrong- and I would never in a million years be with a guy like him.

Because they took her from me, and I’m going to make them pay.

About time to go back and read mafia books. This book has been on my radar for quite a while and thank you Britt (click to read her short review) for recommending this book!

Mackenzie Wilder lost her love ones by associating with the mobs. First her father who was a former Underground fighter was murdered by the Russian mob and now her best friend Talia went missing. She used to work in a strip club owned by the Irish mafia and as reckless as it sounds, she’s going to find her by dealing with them. There’s going to be serious consequences if she’s caught in the act but Mackenzie was driven and tries her best to stay alive.

Then she crossed paths, Lachlan Crow. The future Underboss of the MacKenna Syndicate (Irish Mafia). He recently lost his grandfather. Though the Irish and the Russian mobs have a good relationship, he believes there’s a rat in the Russian mafia and was responsible for his grandfather’s death. When he met Mackenzie, their romance formed and intensifies along the way that will surely keep on your toes.

I love Mackenzie. She’s feisty, badass, brave and resilient.Living in foster homes at a young age, she fends off to survive. It’s a struggle, she had her weak moments but it only made her more driven and tougher. She has the guts and the attitude. For the love of mafia men.. IRISH MAFIA MEN. 🔥😍 I love Lachlan. He’s sexy, broody, domineering and enticing. Honestly, I wasn’t even into him at first but his sacrifice, love and protectiveness over his love ones made me love him. Not just for his lover, but as well as his family. He’ll do what it takes to keep them safe.

The story as whole was dark, gritty and mysterious. The plot twist was well played. I guessed who killed Lach’s grandfather correctly and his other rats. However, I never saw the other antagonist coming. I must admit, I underestimated *highlight to view spoiler*Mandy. I thought she’s just trying to tear Mackenzie and Lachlan’s relationship apart and I was taken by surprise she’ll pull bigger guns on both crime organizations.  *end of spoiler* I was blindsided by that one and it slightly shook me. So brilliant and clever. Aside from that, this book gives us an introduction to other couples’ story and I’m very much excited for Ronan and Sasha. 👀👀👀
