You’re not supposed to want the one who torments you.
When my stepbrother, Elec, came to live with us my senior year, I wasn’t prepared for how much of a jerk he’d be.
I hated that he took it out on me because he didn’t want to be here.
I hated that he brought girls from our high school back to his room.
But what I hated the most was the unwanted way my body reacted to him.
At first, I thought all he had going for him were his rock-hard tattooed abs and chiseled face. Then, things started changing between us, and it all came to a head one night.
Just as quickly as he’d come into my life, he was gone back to California.
It had been years since I’d seen Elec.
When tragedy struck our family, I’d have to face him again.
And holy hell, the teenager who made me crazy was now a man that drove me insane.
I had a feeling my heart was about to get broken again.
Stepbrother Dearest is a standalone novel.
**Contains graphic sexual content and harsh language. It is only appropriate for adult readers age 18+
Senior High School student Greta Hansen doesn’t know what to expect in meeting her stepbrother Elec O’Rouke. He’s going to live with them for a while. She’s seen his pictures, he’s a good looking guy but it’s an understatement. He’s a hot guy with tattoos and piercings that screams bad boy. She thought things are going well and turns out he’s quite an asshole. Greta doesn’t know the full story about Elec and his stepfather’s strained relationship. She completely understands his situation and doesn’t want to pry until he opens up to her. She remained kind and warm despite of his harsh words and antics. Sometimes it’s too much that it hurts her feelings. They have an intense exchange along the way. Lots of angst, sexual tension and drama. After their intimate moment, Elec has to leave immediately to see his mother and she hasn’t seen him since then.
Seven years later, Randy (Elec’s stepfather) passed away due to a heart attack. In his funeral, Greta never thought she’ll see the guy she fell in love with. She still loves him and it breaks her heart when she sees him with someone else. They didn’t have a closure the last time they saw each other. Is it possible he still has feelings for her and try to work on it or they’ll have the closure and move on in the next chapter of their lives?
Suprisingly, it’s a quick read. I buy the drama in this book and I like it just sucked me in. Some moments are heartbreaking and I empathize with Greta’s feelings. She didn’t deserved the verbal lashes from Elec but I think she’s fated for him. Personally, I don’t like Elec. He’s too much of an asshole for me. Also, his POV is unnecessary and redundant. I prefer he tells his story in front of Greta and not through his book. I like the story and the epilogue is sweet but not enough for me to love the hero.
