When Brent Mason looks at Kennedy Randolph, he doesn’t see the awkward, sweet girl who grew up next door. He sees a self-assured, stunning woman…who wants to crush the most intimate – and prized – parts of his anatomy beneath the heels of her Christian Louboutins.
Brent has never let the loss of his leg in a childhood accident affect his ability to lead a fulfilling life. He sets high goals–and then he reaches them.
And now he has his sights set on Kennedy.
When Kennedy looks at Brent Mason, all she sees is the selfish, Abercrombie & Fitch catalogue-worthy teenager who humiliated her in high school to join the popular crowd. A crowd that made those years a living hell.
She’s not a lovesick social outcast anymore – she’s a DC prosecutor with a long winning streak behind her. Brent is the opposing attorney in her next case and she thinks it’s time to put him through a little hell of his own.
But things aren’t exactly working out that way.
Because every fiery exchange has her wondering if he’s as passionate in the bedroom as he is in the courtroom. Each argument and objection only makes him want her more. In the end, Brent and Kennedy may just find themselves in love…or in contempt of court.
APPEALED is a sexy, humorous romance about first crushes, second chances and the final verdict of the heart.
Appealed is about childhood best friends who fell apart and gave each other a second chance after several years. Just like Sustained, this is written in male pov. Emma Chase is one of the best authors who writes amazingly in male pov.
Brent Mason never thought of seeing his childhood best friend, Kennedy Randolph in court. The criminal defense lawyer and the DC prosecutor have vigorous exchange of words in court which might have triggered from their unresolved issues in the past that ruined their friendship. Both have great reputations as lawyers and they knew their issues need a closure.
Brent may not be interested having relationships but he still wants Kennedy in his life. He has a lot of work to do to redeem himself and earn Kennedy’s trust again. Once he have her, he’ll cherish, love and protect her. He’ll be a better man than he was in the past… the selfish, coward and arrogant bastard who hurts her.
It takes time for Kennedy to bounce back after she’s bullied and embarrassed by her former best friend. It truly broke her heart and made her vulnerable. Now she’d grown into a tougher and fiercer woman, she’ll not allow anyone to bring her down. Despite of her deep seethed anger towards Brent, she still has feelings for him but she’s holding back.
I really like Brent and Kennedy’s story. It’s great, simple and quite emotional. I enjoyed reading their banters and their sexy times are steamy. Kennedy’s past surely stirred my emotions and I sympathize with her. In fairness with Brent, he made an effort and sincerely regrets his mistakes. I’m glad these two reconcile and make up for the lost moments. There’s one scene that almost made me cry and probably was my favorite scene. *ehem* prom scene 2.0 (If you know what I mean)*
Overall, this is a wonderful series finale (not counting the novella). Sorry Brent but Jake is still my favorite guy. Don’t worry, I still like you. 😛
