Summary (Goodreads):

Nemesis (n.)
1) An opponent or rival whom a person cannot best or overcome;
2) A person’s undoing;
3) Joshua Templeman.

Lucy Hutton and Joshua Templeman hate each other. Not dislike. Not begrudgingly tolerate. Hate. And they have no problem displaying their feelings through a series of ritualistic passive aggressive maneuvers as they sit across from each other, executive assistants to co-CEOs of a publishing company. Lucy can’t understand Joshua’s joyless, uptight, meticulous approach to his job. Joshua is clearly baffled by Lucy’s overly bright clothes, quirkiness, and Pollyanna attitude.

Now up for the same promotion, their battle of wills has come to a head and Lucy refuses to back down when their latest game could cost her her dream job…But the tension between Lucy and Joshua has also reached its boiling point, and Lucy is discovering that maybe she doesn’t hate Joshua. And maybe, he doesn’t hate her either. Or maybe this is just another game.

The Hating Game is the most adorable book I’ve read in a while and I FREAKING LOVE IT! I don’t know how many times I squealed like a banshee as it made me giddy. I ran out of tabs marking all my favorite moments and lines. Goddamn it, I can never get enough of all this cuteness and my cheeks hurt for smiling.

Lucy Hutton and Joshua Templeman are executive assistants to the CEOs of a publishing company. They are efficient and competitive at work but they HATE each other. I swear they don’t get along and both are candidates for promotion and neither of them are going to back out. As they get along more, it seems they don’t really hate each other but it can cost something they want and even destroy their relationship. It’s entertaining to see them play games (The Staring Game, Mirror Game, Hating Game, etc.. You name it) to tease each other. Not only that, I love it whenever they throw banters at each other. It’s so hilarious and I laugh out loud so hard it brought tears in my eyes. I LIVE FOR THEIR GLORIOUS EXCHANGE OF BANTERS.

I really enjoyed the slow burn and the hate-love relationship they have. So much love on their chemistry and sexual tension. Their sweet moments made me giddy. OMG WHY ARE THESE TWO SO FREAKING ADORABLE?! Lucy is a terrific five feet tall dynamo. She’s bubbly and a total sweetheart. She’s a fighter as she reaches for her dreams and when she cares on someone, she gives her love unconditionally. Joshua Templeman may be a brooding and grumpy at first but there’s something more to him. He’s brilliant, charming, hot and thoughtful.. He’s just irresistible.

I have so many favorite moments but the best one was when Lucy gave Joshua’s father a dose of his own medicine. She just unleashed the Kraken and he was speechless. OMFG. That was indeed a standing ovation worthy moment. *Lucy dropped the mic like a boss* Overall, I love this book and I can’t think of any flaws on this. I love Lucy and Joshua too much.
