#MorganMatsoninPH : Morgan Matson Book Signing Event

September 17,2016 | Saturday | National Bookstore – Glorietta 1 : I always look forward for September because of Manila International Book Fair (MIBF) and book signing events. When I heard Morgan Matson is coming to Manila, I know I couldn’t miss it and this is my most anticipated book signing event this year. Morgan Matson is the New York Times Best Selling Author of Amy & Roger’s Epic Detour, Second Chance Summer, Since You’ve Been Gone and her latest novel, The Unexpected Everything. She has also written novels under the name of Katie Finn.

I arrived at the venue around 8 AM and surprisingly, it’s less crowded than I have expected. It’s been a while since I’ve experienced a calmer and more organized book signing event. While on queue, I met up with the fellow ladies of #NALitLoversPH -It’s our book club in which we read and discuss New Adult novels – Rechellyn / Len of Infinite TBR List, Allie of A Literary Wanderer and Blessie of Mischievous Reads. I’m so glad to finally meet these ladies and we had a really fun chat about many things: Mostly books, non-stop dramas & shenanigans etc.. I really enjoyed our discussions. 🙂 These ladies are awesome and really fun to talk with! Looking forward to meet our fellow #NALitLoversPH sisters Pearl, Ate Claire, Jam, Kat and Nicay (I met her on Victoria Aveyard’s signing.) soon! ❤

I got number 90 and the last time I have a number less than 100 was ages ago. I wish it’s always like this. Hahaha! I want to thank the admin of @MorganMatsonPH for the free bookmark! 🙂

I met up with the Book Girlfriends PH : Ate April, Ate Elaine, CeeBee and Ate Lindsay. It’s been a while since I’ve seen these lovely ladies and I’m usually with them when there’s a book signing event. I miss the other ladies and wish we are complete! It’s always fun to be with them 🙂 ❤

Also, I met PH YA Bloggers:  Hazel of Stay Bookish whom I have known on Goodreads for years, JM of Book Freak Revelations who is the host of The Sun Is Also A Star PH Blog Tour and one of the admins of Nicola Yoon PH fans club (Btw, The Sun Is Also A Star is an amazing YA Contemporary book. It’s a must read!) and  Inah of The Bibliophile Confessions, who is also the admin of Nicola Yoon PH (Inah, we shall take a photo together when we see each other again!). So wonderful to meet and talk to you guys! 🙂

Around 2pm, the moment we have all been waiting for: Ms. Morgan Matson arrived at the event and it’s hosted by Ms. Pam Pastor. I wish she’ll conduct the author interviews in the future. The interview segment is fantastic, lively and interactive.

During the interview segment, Ms. Matson talked about her trip in the Philippines. She enjoyed the Mangoes in Cebu and the chocolate versions of her books on the hotels she stayed at. It’s so adorable to hear her talk about her experience with a smiling face and she really had a fun trip. We sang “Happy Birthday” to her because she’s going to celebrate it on Monday – Sept. 19, her flight back home to America. Happy Birthday again, Morgan Matson and Best Wishes! According to her, she had magical trip to the Philippines and appreciates all her Filipino fans for being the best.

She had a non-spoiler discussion about her books and its themes like love, friendship, and family. She’ll have a new book next year, May 2017 and she mentioned that there’s a hint from The Unexpected Everything. Also a Q&A Segment where us readers have a chance to ask her questions.

Book signing time!

Since it’s not that crowded, my conversation with Morgan Matson is record breaking. This is the longest chat I had with an author on a book signing event and I’m really happy about that.

I talked to her about Amy & Roger’s Epic Detour which I’ve read years ago. I told her I really enjoyed it, how my reading experience made me feel like I’m part of the road trip in America with Amy & Roger and had an instant trip to America through the book. She said she’s glad that I enjoyed the book and  asked if it’s my favorite, I said yes. She replied that it’s most people’s favorite.

I also asked her if she has any plans on writing an Amy & Roger’s Epic Detour sequel and unfortunately she’s not going to write on.. BUT she says that there’s something on Since You’ve Been Gone (which I’m still reading) that will answer my question. I smell cameo on this one! (She loves character cameos on her books)

Here’s a photo of me and Ms. Morgan Matson. She’s one of the most adorable and sweetest authors I’ve ever met. If you’ll have a chance to meet her, don’t miss it. She’s super nice! Thank you for visiting the Philippines and signing my books! I hope you’ll come back in the future! ❤
