Book or Series I Will Never Read

It’s been a while since I posted something random. Previously, I posted about book series I’ll not be continuing and today, I will mention the books or series that I have no interest in reading anymore. It’s been years I have added lots of books on my TBR and as time goes on, my reading tastes starts to change. My interest on these books paled and just lost my interest. Some of them are hyped and well loved by many readers. If I mentioned your favorite, don’t be mad at me. These are my personal opinions. Without further ado, here are the books:

  • Maze Runner trilogy by James Dashner – I heard so many mixed reviews about this trilogy. It’s been a while since I’ve read a book that focuses on dystopia. Also, I heard that the movie adaptation was way better.
  • Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin – Aside from the fact that the books are huge, this fantasy series is well loved by many. I wasn’t really a fan of medieval stuffs I guess? or High fantasy  overwhelms me at times? I don’t know. I actually tried watching the TV show but I find it boring that I fell asleep on two episodes while my aunt is watching.  (My opinion. don’t hate me)
  • Outlander by Diana Gabaldon – I bet you are internally “Avada Kedavra-ing” me. This is overhyped and it’s a historical fiction (which are hit or miss for me. Like Fantasy). These two factors kinda put me off.
  • any book by J.C. Cliff – you know about this issue. I don’t support badly behaving, unprofessional authors. Sorry…but not really
  • Half Bad trilogy by Sally Green – I wasn’t really hooked by its summary and lots of mixed reviews on Goodreads. So.. nope.
  • The Siren by Kiera Cass – I do love her books but this one.. I’m not interested in it.
  • Life and Death: Twilight 10th Anniversary Edition by Stephenie Meyer – Gender swapping of original characters. Cool concept but is it really necessary? Nope. The story will be the same. I think she should focus on the Host sequels.
  • Armada by Ernest Cline – I like Ready Player One but it wasn’t my favorite. I love video games but the info overload gives me headache.I expected this one has a lot of it.
  • The Wolves of Mercy Falls by Maggie Stiefvater – I’m not interested on Werewolves and I keep putting this off for such a longtime until I lost my interest.
  • Endgame series by James Frey – I didn’t like The Lorien Legacies series.. so nah. (He’s Pittacus Lore)
  • Blue Bloods by Melissa Dela Cruz – This was recommended to me by a friend. I kinda feel bad of not reading this anymore. My interest just changed.
  • Halo series by Alexandra Adornetto – I love books with Fallen Angels but my friend told me it’s really bad and boring. So yeah, not gonna happen. I trust my friend on that
  • Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen – I was private reading this one time after my exams. I’ve read the first few pages and ending up putting it back on the shelves and pick another book. (The premise is really boring.)
  • Walking Disaster by Jamie McGuire –  It’s Travis Maddox’s point of view in Beautiful Disaster. I heard nothing special happens and not necessary to read.
  • Carry On by Rainbow Rowell – I don’t know if this is a sequel or a companion novel to Fangirl (which I haven’t read). Some kind of a fanfiction or something. I’m turned off with its hype.
  • Truthwitch by Susan Dennard – Again, hyped book. So yeah. I’m sorry guys. The hype just killed my mood to read this.

These are the books that I have no interest in reading (s0 far). What are the books that you don’t have plans on reading? Let me know on the comments below 🙂

QUESTIONS ABOUT THE BOOK

Q: Is this really a YA?

We recommend this for young adult readers, age 17 and up. We think it’s a book that will appeal to older teens and those adults who are in touch with their inner teen, like us.

Q: Is there a cliffhanger? I’ve heard there’s an awful cliffhanger! Why’d you write a cliffhanger?

We promise that we didn’t set out to write a cliffhanger, but Paper Princess does end in one. The good news is that the next book will be released July 25, 2016.

My Rating: 4 / 5 stars

Genre: New Adult, Contemporary Romance

Publishing Date: November 5, 2013

Summary (Goodreads):

Lost. That one single word best describes my life at this very moment. I lost the last games of the season and both my team and my coach blame me. I lost the last two months because I drowned in my own despair like a complete loser. And I lost the only girl who ever mattered because I was afraid being with me would destroy her.

But now I realize how truly lost I am without her. She has become my story…and even though she acts like she’s moved on, I know she still thinks about me just as much as I think about her. She’s beautiful, sweet—and so damn vulnerable, all I want to do is help her. Be there for her.

Love her…

If only I could convince Fable to give me a second chance. Then I wouldn’t feel so lost anymore, and neither would she. We could be found together.

Forever.

Top 5 Wednesday: Books with “Hard” Topics

It’s time for another TOP 5 WEDNESDAY. This weekly meme is created by Lainey of Ginger Reads Lainey and with its new host, Sam of Thoughts on Tomes   you can check out the weekly topics on the Top 5 Wednesday – Goodreads Page. For this week’s topic: Books with “Hard” Topics. This is such an interesting topic and readers are often challenge with this as they are thought provoking or maybe out of their comfort zone. Some of the books I will mention have trigger warnings.

Here are my top 5 books:

  • Me Before You by Jojo Moyes – The hype surrounds on this book because it’s going to be a movie this coming June and I’m really excited to see its adaptation. I love how the author tackles several issues on this but the most thought provoking issue is about euthanasia / assisted suicide. I will not emphasize more about it to avoid spoilers. I really enjoyed this book and it’s one of the most emotional books I’ve ever read It’s a must read.
  • Addicted to You by Krista and Becca Ritchie – This New Adult novel centers on addiction. The main characters are best friends (A sex addict and an alcoholic) and both are battling their demons. They pretend to be in a relationship to conceal their addictions from their families. The story is greatly executed and the characters are dynamic and have wonderful character developments. I recommend this for 18+ because of the explicit scenes.
  • Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma – I’ve read this book years ago. For a YA book, this is one of the best forbidden romance / thought provoking books ever written. I’ll say this is somewhat in between YA and NA. The story is really dark for me as it focuses about incest.
  • Bang by E.K. Blair – This was recommended to me by my book girlfriend, Rhyzza and it’s something I didn’t expect at all. This is a psychosexual thriller and it’s about revenge and abuse. I cannot say this book is for everyone because of that topic and the story is REALLY DARK and some scenes will make you CRINGE. Not that I’m scaring you or anything but it made me scream like a banshee. The story is so twisted and I love it. Read at your own risk. READ RESPONSIBLY. For 18+  years old readers only!
  • Firsts by Laurie Elizabeth Flynn – This 2016 debut novel is one of the most unique books I’ve read in YA as it centers about sex. The story is about a girl who offers virgin boys a sex lesson so they can give their girlfriends a pleasurable “first time”. It’s very unusual for a YA book and as a reader, you must keep an open mind about it. The story is really great and of course the main character learned her lessons in the end.

Have you read any of these books? What are some of the books that you’ve read that has “hard” topics? Share your thoughts on the comments below 🙂
